Hubra Lee Royster

A graveside funeral service celebrating the life of Hubra Lee Royster, 84, of Newark, will be held on Monday, April 12, 2021 at 2:00 p.m. at Newark Memorial Gardens. Visitation will be held on Sunday, April 11th from 1:00 to 3:00 p.m. at Criss Wagner Hoskinson Funeral and Cremation Service, 179 Granville St., Newark. Due to the COVID-19 restrictions, masks must be worn inside the funeral home and for your protection, a maximum of 35 guests will be allowed inside at one time. Please practice social distancing. Hubra was born in Birmingham, AL on August 26, 1936 to the late Eddie Lee Edwards and Luegenia (Cobb) Speed. She passed away on April 3, 2021 at the Selma Markowitz Care Center, operated by Hospice of Central Ohio. Prior to retirement, Hubra worked at the Furniture House for over 20 years. She was a member of Shiloh Missionary Baptist Church and a prior member of the Elks Lodge #821, where she served as the daughter ruler for Temple #551. She enjoyed bowling and cooking, where she was especially known for her fantastic pound cakes. She loved socializing, never met a stranger and will be missed by everyone that knew her. Survivors include her daughter, Brenda J. Latimore; son, Eric Lee (Mary) Royster, Sr.; seven grandchildren, Pernell, Eric Jr., Rashod, LaShonna, Marika, Leela and Travis (Beth); special friends, Willa Mae Render, Geraldine Manning and Beatrice Trent; numerous step grandchildren, great grandchildren, great great grandchildren, nieces, nephews, cousins and friends. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by a grandchild, Arnell Bryant; and sister, Jessie Ray Williams, Ada Mae Williams, Jean Esther Davis and Thelma Williams. Memorial contributions may be made in memory of Hubra to the National Kidney Foundation. Envelopes will be available at the funeral home. Criss Wagner Hoskinson Funeral and Cremation Service is honored to care for Hubra and her family.
