Ian David Taylor

A memorial service celebrating the life of Ian David Taylor, age 31, of Thornville, will be held at 6:00 p.m. on Thursday, February 9, at the Thornville Chapel of Hoskinson Funeral & Cremation Service with Pastor Chuck Meathrell officiating. Friends may call from 5 p.m. until the time of the service at the funeral home, 56 South Main Street, Thornville.

Ian was born June 25, 1991 in Lancaster, Ohio. He passed away unexpectedly on Thursday, January 26, 2023 in Columbus. A free spirit, Ian was a very adventurous person who loved to explore and travel the nation on his bicycle. He rode for a cause to help others by bringing awareness to mental health and addiction. He took many pictures on his trips and his plan was to write a book of his experiences. Ian loved music and taught himself to play the bass guitar. A talented artist, he loved to draw and sketch. Ian was a very poetic and philosophical person who loved to learn and was very interested in world events. He was very caring and thoughtful and had a great sense of humor.

He will be greatly missed by his family including his mother and step-father, Angela N. VanSickle and Michael Cope of Thornville; sister, Kylah Billings and her fiancé Mark Roush of Roseville; brother, Elijah Billings of Somerset; maternal grandmother, Carolyn “Victoria” Goss of Nelsonville; aunts, Autumn (Isaac) Taylor-Butcher of Lancaster and Tracy Hopkins (Jayson Finnearty) of Hebron; cousins, Sydney Hopkins of Heath and Chelsea Newsome of Logan; bonus parents, Joshua and Nickie Billings of Somerset; and bonus grandparents, aunts, uncles and cousins.

He was preceded in death by his father, Jon David Velarde; and his maternal grandfather, Roger Taylor.
