Imogene Stewart Van Buren

A funeral service celebrating the life of Imogene Stewart Van Buren, 92, of Kirkersville, will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Tuesday, April 4, 2023 in the chapel of the Kirkersville home of Hoskinson Funeral and Cremation Service, with Gerald Arnott as celebrant. Burial will follow in the Kirkersville Cemetery, where Imogene will be laid to rest with her husband Russell and son Donald.

The family will receive friends on Monday evening, April 3 from 5-7 pm at the funeral home, 285 East Main Street in Kirkersville.

Imogene passed away peacefully on Wednesday evening, March 29, 2023 at her home with family at her side. She was born April 17, 1930 in Columbus, Ohio, the daughter of the late Wilbur and Lura (Lanham) Stewart.

Imogene was a member of the class of 1948 from Kirkersville High School and was fond of telling people, “There were only seven of us in the class!” A loving mother and lifelong homemaker, she enjoyed spending time with her family and tending her flower gardens. She was an active member of the Kirkersville United Methodist Church.

Imogene is survived by her loving daughters, Donna, Dianna, and Debra; her grandchildren, Virginia (Victor) Leon, Dustin and Jason Van Buren and Shalala Ohlman; her great-granddaughters, Ariela and Iris; and several nieces and nephews; along with her canine companion, Murphy.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Fred Russell Van Buren; her son, Donald Van Buren; her brother, Eugene Burton Stewart; and her step-sisters, Sybil and Shirley.
