A funeral service celebrating the life of Irma P. Romine, age 98, of Newark, will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Thursday, December 30, 2021 at the Rocky Fork Church of Christ, 12969 Techniglas Road in Newark with Pastor Moses Hamilton officiating. Burial will follow in Rocky Fork Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 12-2 p.m. prior to the service at the church.
Irma was born October 24, 1923 in Muskingum County, Ohio to the late Forrest R. and Ethel F. (Cunningham) Fawcett. She passed away on Sunday, December 26, 2021 at her home.
Irma grew up on a farm and often told stories of her younger days working in the fields, making hay, milking cows, and driving a coal truck. She retired from AAA where she was a travel agent. Irma was a baptized member of the Rocky Fork Church of Christ. She was very dedicated to her church and loved her church family. She was known to always be praying for others.
She is survived by a daughter, Carole L. (Brian) Priest; son, Larry (Linda) Thompson; five grandchildren, Duane (Lisa) Priest, Tammy (Ty) McCombs, Kevin (Beth) Thompson, Todd Thompson and Tina (Cary) Mayes; nine great-grandchildren, Shay (Josh) Hutchinson, Shawnee (Chase) Ashcraft, Shelby McCombs, Lindsey Priest, Bradley Mayes, Courtney (Logan) DePriest, Colton Thompson, Brady Thompson and Dominic Thompson; 13 great-great-grandchildren, Miriah Root, Emilee Arledge, Tanner Arledge, Maddy Hutchinson, Bre Hutchinson, Maceson Hutchinson, Dallas DePriest, Paisley DePriest, Maverick DePriest, Rylee Mayes, Bailee Ashcraft, Brooklyn Ashcraft, Huxson Evans, Labella Engle and Larry Reilein; step-grandchildren, Debbie, Vickie, Shiela, Teresa and Sarah; and several step-great-grandchildren; sister, Frances Phillips of Florida; sister-in-law, Bess Ellen Fawcett of Indiana; and many nieces and nephews.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husbands, Guy R. Thompson in 1968 and Norris W. Romine in 1994; infant daughters, Marilyn Kay Thompson and Rita Annette Thompson; step-daughter, Joan E. Simmers; and step-son, Louis Romine.
Special thanks to Bella Care Hospice and caregivers Nancy Rostofer, Becky Bush, Jeanne Lintz, Becky Wright, and Donna Arbaugh for their friendship and prayers during this difficult time, and to special family friend, Lyle Dudgeon, who delivered Meals on Wheels to Irma.
