Irven Edward Barcus, Jr.

A funeral service, celebrating the life of Irven Edward Barcus, Jr., age 68, of Newark, will be held on Wednesday, April 20, 2016 a 11:00 a.m. Tri-Village Christian Church, 7509 E. Broad Street SW, Pataskala, with Pastor Paul Snoddy officiating. Burial will follow at Greenhill Cemetery in Johnstown.Irven was born in Delaware, Ohio on February 6, 1948 to the late Irven Barcus, Sr. and Alda (Jakeway) Barcus. He passed away at Select Specialty Hospital in Columbus on April 15, 2016.Irven graduated from Johnstown High School, Class of 1966, where he was a proud member of the 1964-1965 undefeated footballs teams. He also attended The Ohio State University. Prior to retirement, he was the director of environmental services at LPN Nursing Home for nearly 30 years. Irven was a member of Tri-Village Christian Church. He enjoyed woodworking, gardening, was an avid Ohio State Buckeyes fan and loved spending time with his family.Survivors include his loving wife of 46 years, Connie (Knox) Barcus, whom he married October 10, 1969; daughter, Beth Barcus Bushey; son, Bryan (Angie) Barcus; grandchildren, Susannah Bushey, Benjamin Barcus, Nathan Barcus and Grant Peters; sister, Sandra (Charles) Dumrese, Ann (Richard) Dixon; sisters-in-law, Sharon (John) Carter and Vickie (Keith) Taylor; brother-in-law, Robert (Lois) Knox; Aunt, Bea Amrine; step-mother, Inez Barcus and several nieces, nephews and friends.In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by his in-laws, Robert and Dorothy Knox.Memorial contributions may be made in memory of Irven to Grow The Vision Program at Tri-Village Christian Church.
