Ivan Charles Kirkpatrick

A funeral service celebrating the life of Ivan Charles “Doc” Kirkpatrick, age 81, of Cassville, Missouri, formerly of Newark, will be held at 8:00 p.m. on Friday, May 31, at Criss Wagner Hoskinson Funeral Home. Military honors will be observed by the Licking County Veterans Alliance. Inurnment will take place at a later date in Rocky Fork Cemetery.

Friends may call from 5-8 p.m. prior to the service at the funeral home, 179 Granville Street, Newark.

Ivan was born May 22, 1943 in Newark, Ohio to the late William Edmund and Louise (Davis) Kirkpatrick. He passed away on Thursday, May 23, 2024 (just a day after his birthday) at Mercy Hospital in Rogers, Arkansas.

Ivan was a veteran of the United States Navy, faithfully serving his country from Nov. 1964-September 1968 during Vietnam. He attended college at both Park College and The Ohio State University-Newark and retired from the Newark Air Force Base where he had been employed for many years. Ivan was a member of the Vietnam Veterans Chapter #55 and the NRA. He enjoyed hunting and fishing and loved his dogs, Ralph and Jeb, who meant the world to him.

He is survived by a brother, William E. Kirkpatrick, Jr. of Nashport; sisters, Louella Kalbrier of Fayetteville, North Carolina and Barbara Ford of Zanesville; nieces and nephews, Terie Mulcare, Joseph Kirkpatrick, Katherine Kirkpatrick, Chris Kirkpatrick, Lisa Branston, and Glenda Smith; 15 great nieces and nephews; and special friends, Darrell and Melba Henson, the Mulford family, and Truman Berbridge.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a brother, Russell A. Kirkpatrick and sister-in-law Dorcas Annabelle Kirkpatrick.
