Jack Cheney

Jack Cheney, 79, of Millersport, passed away to begin his “life worth living journey” on August 22, 2021. Jack began his earthly journey on June 14, 1942. He married his college sweetheart, Dreah (Mock) in 1971 and they were blessed with almost 50 years of love and happiness.

Family was extremely important to Jack. He is survived by his wife Dreah, daughter Bree Mantonya and three wonderful grand children Leah, Jack and Tori Mantonya. Also surviving are his siblings Shirley (Joe) Lambert, Peggy (Jerry) Orecchio, Betty (Randy) Stover, Diane (Mike) Miller, special brother-in-law’s James Wilson and Sam (Anita) Goebel as well as special sister-in-law Karen Cheney.  Jack is also survived by in-laws Sue (Robert) McCelland, Theodore (Mary Jo) Mock, and Jeffray (Chanty) Mock.

Jack was preceded in death by his parents Charles “Sam” and Helen (Wolfe) Chaney; brothers Don (Dodie) Cheney, Thomas (Madelyn) Cheney and Ken Cheney; sisters Marjorie Wilson and Sharon Goebel; niece Laura Lambert; Raymond and Georgeann Mock (Dreah’s parents); brother-in-law Wendell Duane Mock. He had many nieces, nephews, cousins, aunts, uncles and friends that he loved and cherished.

Jack worked his adult life in construction as the owner/operator of Caulk and Seal, Inc. He also assisted his wife, Dreah, with her Hallmark store the Gift Gallery as both a partner and the gift buyer. Jack’s love and devotion to Light and Love were important as well as attending the Methodist Church (Rehoboth and Iliff). He was a member of the Hilliard Jaycees, Builders Exchange of Central Ohio, Lieb’s Island Civic Association, New Lexington Class of 1960, Perry County Heart to Heart and an honorary member of the New Lexington High School Alumni Association. He was an avid Ohio State Buckeye Fan. He attended Ohio University, The Ohio State University and graduated with a Bachelor’s Degree from Franklin University. He served honorably in the US Army 1964-1966.

Jack, throughout his entire life, was a loving, kind and generous person. He touched so many hearts and lives in the most positive way.

Jack was an avid gardener and his ashes will be spread in his beautiful gardens to continue his loving work with his flowers. Even though he loved flowers, he has asked that you send any donation to the New Lexington High School Scholarship fund in his name (P.O.
