A funeral service celebrating the life of Jackie D. Jack Sublett, age 71, of Newark, will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Wednesday, April 30, at Criss Wagner Hoskinson Funeral Home with the Rev. William J. Rauch officiating. Burial will take place in Wilson Cemetery where military honors will be observed by the Licking County Veterans Alliance. Jack was born February 14, 1943 in Soldier, Kentucky. He passed away on Friday, April 25, 2014 at Heartland of Westerville. Jack retired from the United States Air Force where he proudly served for 20 years from 1960-1980, spending over fifteen years in foreign service. He served with distinction and honor, receiving many distinguished military medals. Upon retiring from the United States Air Force at the age of 37, he accepted a position with American Electric Power. He worked as a training coordinator for an additional 22 years and retired for a second time at the age of 59. Upon his retirement from AEP, he purchased Class-A-Trophy, a long-standing business in Newark, Ohio, which he operated until the time of his passing.Jack loved to fish, golf and spend time with his children and grandchildren. He was fondly known by his grandchildren as Afi. He was a loving spouse, father and grandfather. Jack was a very kind man who was blessed with many friends and family members located in the Newark area and other parts of the world.Jack is survived by his wife of nearly 53 years, Katrin A. (Magnusdottir) Sublett, whom he married May 20, 1961; three children, Jackie D. (Lori) Sublett, Jr. of Pataskala, Magnus J. (Christine) Sublett of St. Petersburg, Florida and Gina M. (Charles A., Jr. Chuck)Wills of Heath; grandchildren, Natalie Sublett, Jonathan (Patricia) Sublett, Sarah Sublett, Shelby Sublett, Olivia ORyan, Amelia ORyan, Joshua ORyan and Charlie Alana Wills; step-grandchildren, Shelby Wills, Taylor Wills and Shaylin Wills; six sisters, Janet, Joyce, Kay, Susie, Christy and Debbie; a brother, Steve; and many nieces and nephews.He was preceded in death by a sister, Betty; and two brothers, Hubert and Gary.Friends may call from 4-7 p.m. on Tuesday, April 29, at the funeral home, 179 Granville Street, Newark.Memorial contributions may be made to St. Jude's Children's Research Hospital, 501 Research Place, Memphis, TN 38105.Criss Wagner Hoskinson Funeral Home is honored to care for the Sublett family.
