James A. "Jim" Crothers

A memorial gathering celebrating the life of James A. Jim Crothers, age 64, of Newark, will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Saturday, August 29, at Moundbuilders Park in Heath. Please bring a covered dish to pass.Jim was born October 17, 1950 in Newark, Ohio to James W. and E. Jean (Thompson) Crothers. He passed away on Monday, August 24, 2015 at Heath Nursing Care Center.Jim was a 1970 graduate of Newark High School. He had been a bartender at the Moose Lodge #499 for 20 years. He was a member of the Coon Hunters Association and enjoyed camping and fishing. He was an avid OSU Buckeyes football fan and was also a fan of the Bengals and the Browns.He is survived by his wife of nearly 42 years, Debra M. (Lewis) Crothers, whom he married August 31, 1973; three daughters, Stacey Castle, Angela M. (Mark) Edwards and Shelly Miller, all of Newark; eight grandchildren, Christopher, Daniel, Tristan, Amanda, Savanna, Nathan, McKala and Zachary; sisters, Linda Scott of Newark and Barbara (David) Palatt of Virginia Beach, Virginia; and several nieces, nephews and cousins.He was preceded in death by a brother, Danny K. Crothers; and a grandson, Garrett Douglas Edwards.Memorial contributions may be made to the family.Criss Wagner Hoskinson is honored to care for Jim and his family.
