A memorial service celebrating the life of James A. Willey, age 70, of Newark, will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Saturday, July 11, at Criss Wagner Hoskinson Funeral Home, 179 Granville Street, Newark, with Rev. William Koppert as celebrant. Friends may call from 1:00 p.m. until the time of service.James was born July 17, 1944 in Newark, Ohio to the late Harold Willey and Mildred (Camp) Willey of Frazeysburg. He passed away on Tuesday, June 16, 2015 at Riverside Methodist Hospital in Columbus following a brief illness.A lifetime resident of Newark, James was a 1963 graduate of Newark High School and was an Eagle Scout. He was a veteran of the United States Air Force and owned and operated Willeys Plumbing and Electrical Service from which he retired in 2014.James was an active member of the Newark community and was a member and past-president of the Moundbuilders Sertoma, past-president of the Safety and Sanitary Plumbing Association of Licking County, Experimental Aircraft Association, United Commercial Travelers and the Aircraft Owners and Pilots Association. James was a hobby pilot and enjoyed flying. He was a member of the First United Methodist Church of Newark.In addition to his mother, Mildred, he is survived by his wife, Patti; daughters, Lisa (Jeff) Bowman of Newark and Cheri Wade (Don Schumacher) of Newark; grandchildren, Shawn (Tina) Hendrickson, Kelsey, Seth and Emma Bowman and Hanna, Rachel and Arin Wade; three great-grandchildren; and sister, Nancy (Tim) Singleton of Frazeysburg.The family suggests that memorials be made to New Beginnings, 60 North 1st Street, Newark, OH 43055.Criss Wagner Hoskinson Funeral Home is honored to care for the Willey family.
