James Allen Wolfe

October 26, 1937 — January 11, 2022

James Allen “Jim” Wolfe, age 84, of Newark, passed away on Tuesday, January 11, 2022 at Licking Memorial Hospital. Jim was born October 26, 1937 in Lancaster, Ohio to the late Walter Allen and Dorothy (Ruff) Wolfe.

Jim was a veteran of the United States Army and faithfully served his country from October 1959-February 1962. He was a builder and the owner of J.A. Wolfe and Associates. Jim was a member of St. Leonard Catholic Church and the Thornport Amvets Post #51. He was an outdoorsman and enjoyed living at Buckeye Lake, boating, and fishing trips to Canada. Building and remodeling were his passion.

He is survived by his wife, Sarah Elizabeth (Hays) Wolfe; three daughters, Becky (Brent) Roark of Raceland, Kentucky, Amy (Kurt) Schuler of Newark, and Kristy Jones of West Chester; grandchildren, Brittany (Sam) Mintos, Kelsey (Andy) Vernau, Morgan Smith, and Meredith Jones; great-grandchildren, Cora Mintos, Thea Mintos, Blake Vernau, and Charlotte Vernau; a brother, Thomas (Cheryl) Wolfe of Lancaster; and several nieces and nephews.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a brother, Bill Wolfe; and a sister, Mary Ann Rice.

The family will observe a private memorial service. Military honors will be observed by the Licking County Veterans Alliance.

Memorial contributions may be made to the American Diabetes Association.
