James G. Canterbury, 70, of Hebron, passed away on Thursday, October 23, 2014 at his residence. He was born on August 8, 1944 in Madison, West Virginia, son of the late Gordon and Thelma (Kirk) Canterbury. Jim served honorably in the US Air Force. He was a 32nd Degree Mason and Shriner. He loved children and enjoyed performing as a clown in the Shriner Circus. He was a member of the Masonic Lodge #158, Chelyan, WV and the Beni Kedem Shrine, Charleston, WV.The environment was also very dear to Jims heart. He was a member of the West Virginia Environment Association as well as the West Virginia Environment Federation where he served as Club President in 2005 and in 2007 he won the Federations Arthur Sidney Bedell Award which acknowledges extraordinary personal service to the organization.Jim had a great sense of humor. He liked cooking and eating, flower gardening (roses), but most of all spending time with his family, especially his grandkids.He is survived by his wife, Lisa; daughters, Jackie, Debbie, and Janet; two granddaughters, Chloe and Anna; step-sons, Zach and Ryan; as well as three nieces, four sisters-in-law; two brothers-in-law; and many good friends.In addition to his parents, Jim was preceded in death by his brother and a sister, Mary Jane.A funeral service celebrating Jims life will be held on Monday, October 27, 2014 at 11:00 a.m. in the chapel of the Kirkersville home of HOSKINSON Funeral and Cremation Service, 285 E.
