A funeral service celebrating the life of James H. “Jim” Charles, age 70, of Pataskala, will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Monday, October 30, at the Kirkersville Chapel of Hoskinson Funeral & Cremation Service with Pastor Todd Smeltzer officiating.
Friends may call from 2-5 p.m. on Sunday, October 29, at the funeral home, 285 East Main Street in Kirkersville, as well as from 10-11 a.m. prior to the service on Monday.
Jim was born August 19, 1953 in Jamestown, Ohio to the late Herbert Glenn and Dorothy Faye (Ault) Charles. He passed away on Thursday, October 26, 2023 at his home.
Jim was a 1971 graduate of Xenia High School. He retired from AEP where he had been employed for 24 years. Jim was a member of the First Presbyterian Church in Pataskala for 26 years. An avid OSU Buckeyes fan, Jim also enjoyed watching NASCAR. He loved to be outdoors taking care of his home, yard, and flowers, and also enjoyed camping.
He is survived by his loving wife of 25 years, Teri Charles; daughter, Holly (Dave) Boyer; step-daughters, Brandy (Dan) Schwab and Faith Harvell; grandchildren, Jack (Julie), Ashley, Ben, Audrey, Wyatt, and AJ; great-grandchildren, Abel, Alexis, Hayden, and Lincoln; his siblings, Richard “Dick” Charles, Grace Halsey, Donna (Mike) Tigner, and Bill Charles; many nieces and nephews; and best friend, Rick (Kim) Gilley.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his brothers, Bob Charles and Dave Charles; and his in-laws, Ralph and Faye Schaffer.
