A funeral service celebrating the life of James Clifford Dailey, age 79, of Thornville, will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Monday, March 30, at Criss Wagner Hoskinson Funeral Home with Pastor Anthony Payton officiating. Friends may call from 11 a.m.-1 p.m. prior to the service at the funeral home on Monday. Burial will take place in Newark Memorial Gardens where military honors will be observed by the Licking County Veterans Alliance. James was born April 13, 1935 in Cambridge, Ohio to the late Brady Franklin and Eva Marie (Sparrgrove) Dailey. He passed away on Friday, March 27, 2015 at Kindred Transitional Care and Rehab. James was a veteran of the United States Army. He retired from the Caine Corp. (Structurelite) and Walmart. He enjoyed fishing, hunting, bowling, playing pool and going for walks. He loved helping people and was known for mowing lawns in the neighborhood just to help out. He is survived by his wife, Ruth Ann (Laughlin) Dailey; daughter, Patty Ann Mitchell of Thornville; grandchildren, Mike Burtnett (Kendra Parsons) of Coshocton and Katherine Burtnett of Thornville; step-grandchildren, Erica Mitchell and Jessica Mitchell, both of Whitehall; two great-grandchildren and four step-great-grandchildren; sisters, Hazel Markle of Newark, Betty Sutton of Lore City, Jose (David) Cronk of Bradenton, FL, Sandra (Edward) Van Etten of Thonotosassa, FL, Franklin (Bunny) Dailey of McCaysville, GA and Thomas Dailey of Bradenton, FL; many nieces, nephews, great and great-great-nieces and nephews; many friends; and his beloved dog, Cassie Marie.In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a sister, Dorothy Carpenter; and two brothers, Donald Dailey and John Dailey.
