James M. Crist

James M. Crist, 91, of Thornville, passed away on November 24, 2023 at his residence. He was born in Ohio on November 10, 1932 to the late Leonard and Thelma (Brown) Crist. He graduated from Millersport High School, Class of 1950. James was a decorated veteran, proudly serving his country in the United States Army during the Korean War. Prior to retirement, he was a heavy equipment operator with the International Union of Operator Engineers. He was a member of the Buckeye Lake Eagles and the Somerset American Legion. He enjoyed working in his yard and shooting firearms. Survivors include his children, Stephen (Christina) Crist, Cindy Gorsuch, Susan Gorsuch and Jamie Bryant; stepchildren, Veronic Butler and George Measley; brother, William (Linda) Crist; loving dog, Jake; and numerous grandchildren, great grandchildren, nieces, nephews and friends. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death his wife, Gabriele Crist; stepchildren, Michelle Tompkins and Lee Watts. A graveside inurnment service will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Friday, December 15, at Zion Ridge Cemetery where military honors will be observed.
