James D. Themar, Sr.

A funeral service celebrating the life of James D. Themar, Sr., 75, of Newark, will be held on Monday, July 13, 2015 at 1:00 p.m. at Criss Wagner Hoskinson Funeral Home with Pastor Ed Fugate officiating. Burial will follow at Spring Grove Cemetery.James was born in Wadena, Minnesota on April 20, 1940 to the late Herman and Era (Boyd) Themar. He passed on July 7, 2015 at Licking Memorial Hospital while surrounded by his family.Prior to retirement, he worked at Lowes for many years. He was also a plant manager at St. Regis Paper Company and worked as an agent for Monumental Life. He attended Marne United Methodist Church. He enjoyed fishing, boating, building model trains and especially enjoyed spending time with his family and friends.Survivors include his loving wife of 55 years, Renate (Frenzel) Themar, whom he married December 18, 1960; two sons, James D. (Patricia) Themar, Jr. and Mark W. (Geri) Themar; grandchildren, Christa (Adam) Davis, Tommy (Staci) Rogers, Thomas (Stephanie) Themar, James D. Themar III, Patrick W. Themar, Cassandra Romes, Kirk Romes and Rachel Romes; great grandchildren, Nathan, Olivia, Bentley, Zoey Lynn, Destini, Zoey Lee, Alex, Avery and Logan; special friends, Greig and Jennifer McDonald; and numerous nieces, nephews and friends.In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by five brothers, Jack, Phillip, Dean, Paul and Bill; and one sister, Shirley.Memorial contributions may be made in memory of James to American Lung Association, 1950 Arlingate Ln, Columbus, OH 43228.
