A funeral service celebrating the life of James Doye Swiger, age 77, of Etna, will be held on Wednesday, March 11, 2015 at 10:00 a.m. at the Kirkersville home of HOSKINSON Funeral and Cremation Service with Pastor Tom Myers officiating. The immediate family will have the committal service at Pataskala Cemetery.Doye was born in Folsom, WV on November 16, 1937 to the late Corbet and Ruth (Bates) Swiger. He passed away on Saturday, March 7, 2015 at the Selma Markowitz Care Center, operated by Hospice of Central Ohio.Prior to retirement, he was a ticket agent and a supervisor of airport services for American Airline for 30 years. He was a member of the Kirkersville Baptist Church for 47 years. Doye loved the Lord, his church and reading the Bible. He enjoyed fishing in Canada for over 20 years, hunting, collecting maple sap for syrup, and do it yourself building. He, Jack Klema and Harold Oswald started up Frontier Camp at Judson Hills Church Camp in Loudonville, Ohio. He was an adventurer, going white water rafting, camping in the wilderness of New Mexico and moose hunting in Canada. Spending time with his family was most important to him, taking his family on many trips throughout the United States, Canada and Mexico.Survivors include his wife of 57 years, Eva LaVaughn (Shrader) Swiger, whom he married June 7, 1957; son, Kevin (Vicky) Swiger of Pickerington; daughters, Vivian (Allen) Baumgard of Cutler, Ohio and Amy (Wade) Timmons of Kirkersville; brother, Bill (Mary Lou) Swiger of Wallace, WV; grandchildren, Augusta, Brianna, Carson, Denise, Rachel, Jacob, Allie and Corbet; three great grandchildren; and numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.Memorial contributions may be made in memory of Doye to Foundation For Hospice of Central Ohio, P.O.
