It is with deep sadness that we announce the passing of James Leroy Haynes, Jr. Also known as Jim at the age of 75. Jim passed away March 25, 2025 at his home in Hebron, Ohio surrounded by his loving family.

Jim was a beloved Husband, Father, Grandfather, Great Grandfather and Brother.

Jim was born on April 22, 1949 in Cyclone, West Virginia to Betty (Cowan) and James Leroy Haynes Sr.

Jim was a Vietnam Veteran serving with the 173rd Airborne Brigaide - "The Herd" and is a Purple Heart Recipient. He proudly served in the United States Army 21 years, retiring as a Highly decorated First Sargeant. He continued serving his country working for the Federal Government as a Management Analyst at the Defense Supply Center Columbus. Jim earned a Bachelors of Science and Arts Degree.

Jim is survived by his devoted wife of 56 years. Anna (Kidd) Haynes who stood by his side in unwavering support. Together, they built a family rich in love and cherished memories.

Jim is also survived by his children Angela Dawn (Shawn) Myers, Kimberley Verlynn (Mark Fluharty) Bindner, Matthew Aaron (Kelly Knoblauch) Haynes. His Grandchildren Brittany Bindner, Shawn Bindner, Kayla Parker, Jenna Myers, Alyssa Haynes and Brayden Haynes. Great Grandchildren Naomi Faye Showman, Layla Bindner, Riley Bindner and Asher Parker. Siblings Janet (Ronnie) Foster, David (Marketta) Haynes and Carolyn (David) Moore.

Jim is preceded in death by his parents, his son James Leroy Haynes III, and his sister Belinda Bolt.

Jim enjoyed many things. He loved coaching basketball and football. He spent time making memories with his wife and children fishing and camping. He enjoyed bowling, golfing and riding his Harley Davidson. He was a member of the 173rd Airborne Association and a 32nd degree Mason.

Jim was strong in his pentecostal faith and was an ordained minister. He stood fast in his beliefs and faith to his family and others.

Jim adored his beautiful wife, his children, grandchildren, Great Grandchildren and loved them more than they will ever know. He was not a stranger to anyone and left a lasting impression on whoever he met. His achievements and accomplishments reflect his desire To be all he could be. Army Strong! Airborne All The Way and then some.

In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests donations be made to Hospice of Central Ohio, an organization that provided exceptional care and support to James and his family in his later days.

Family and friends may call on Sunday, March 30, 2025 from 3:00pm to 7:00pm at the Criss Wagner Hoskinson Funeral and Cremation Service, located at 179 Granville Street, Newark, OH. Additional visitation will be held at the funeral home on Monday, March 31, 2025 from 11:00 am until the time of service at 12:00pm with Pastor Craig Cook officiating. Burial will follow in Glen Rest Memorial Estate cemetery, 8029 E. Main St., Reynoldsburg, Ohio, where Military Honors will be observed by the Licking County Veterans Alliance.
