James L. Baumann

James Leroy Baumann, age 86, of Hebron, died Friday November 24, 2017 in Naples, Florida. He was born May 2, 1931 in Columbus, Ohio. James attended Saint Leos Grade School, Saint Charles Preparatory School and The College of Saint Charles Borromeo Seminary. He retired at the age of 70 after 25 years in the plumbing and heating business, 32 years as a real estate broker, 25 years in public service (United States Army, Columbus City Council, Ohio House of Representatives and Ohio Environmental Board of Review) and 10 years as a consultant and property manager for Donatos Pizza. James was a member of the Catholic Order of Foresters and The Church of Our Lady of Mount Carmel, Buckeye Lake, and attended St. Williams Catholic Church in Naples, Florida. He was a life member of the American Legion #144 and AMVETS #51. An avid boater, he was a 44-year member of the Buckeye Lake Yacht Club. James is survived by his siblings, Richard and Kathleen Baumann, Annie Upper, Susan and Thomas Hochanadel; children, Matt Baumann and Beth Caldwell, Michael and Linda DeWitt, Meg and Tom Mathues, Jim and Debie Baumann, Sue and Bill Eubanks, Dave and Nancy Baumann, Lisa and Dave Fischer and Steve Baumann; grandchildren, Brandon DeWitt, Jens Fischer and Chris Kenney, Mike and Angela Mathues, Katie Baumann, Nick Glieco, Ryan and Angela Mathues, Jimmy Baumann, Valerie Baumann and Chad Bogner, Justin and Casey Baumann, Kevin and Megan Baumann, Joe and Julie Glieco, Jacci and Nathan Graham, Rio Fischer, Annie Mathues, Alex Heflin, Corey Kuskowski, Katie DeWitt, Audrey and Jay Truman, Ian Mathues, Judy Heflin, Stacie Baumann, Lila Baumann and Erin Baumann; great-grandchildren, Katie Puz, James Puz, Kyle Baumann, Remi Bogner and Olivia Glieco. His extended family, John, Ali, Lauren and Emily Manson, as well as many nieces, nephews and cousins and all those who considered him their honorary Papa. He was preceded in death by his parents, Herman E. and Catherine M. (Haley) Baumann; wives, Ann Dougherty Baumann and Jane DeWitt Baumann; and grandson, David Baumann, Jr. Friends may call from 1-3 and 5-8 p.m. on Thursday, November 30, at Hoskinson Funeral & Cremation Service, 285 East Main Street in Kirkersville, where a Wake Service will be observed at 8 PM. The funeral mass will be at 10:30 a.m. on Friday, December 1, at The Church of Our Lady of Mount Carmel, 5133 Walnut Road, Buckeye Lake, followed by interment in St. Joseph Cemetery in Columbus at 2:30 p.m. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Buckeye Lake for Tomorrow or The Reeb Center, both through The Columbus Foundation (www.Columbusfoundation.org/the-giving-store/), 1234 East Broad Street, Columbus, OH 43205.
