Visitation will be held at the funeral home, 179 Granville Street, Newark, one hour prior to the memorial service on Thursday, from 5:00 to 6:00 p.m. Jimmy was born in Belmont, Kentucky on February 18, 1942 to the late James L. Brown, Sr., and Louise (Payne) Smith. He passed away at his residence, while surrounded by his family, on May 28, 2017 after a long battle with COPD. Jimmy talked to God frequently during the past several months, where he found peace and faith, that he would be joined in heaven with those who went before him. He owned and operated an auto detail shop, drove a semi-truck for several years as an owner/operator with North American Van Lines and also drove for Tamarack Farms. Jimmy tried retirement, but got bored with that phase of his life, so he delivered cars for the Coughlin Automotive Group, where he met many friends. He was a former member of the Newark VFW, American Legion Post #85, charter member of the Heath Eagles, and was a former member on the Newark Masonic Lodge. Survivors include his long-time companion of 22 years, Emma Arlene Hartsough; daughter, Kimberly Brown (Rod) Cameron; sisters, Patricia (Keith) Shoults, Sherry (Jim) Taylor, Gale (Rick) Littlefield; brother, Christopher Heft III; grandchildren, Danielle, Nicholas, April, Sam and JT; nine great grandchildren; numerous nieces; nephews; special friends, Don and Paulette Duvall, who moved to Ohio to be near Jim; and many other friends. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a son, John Thomas Brown; and granddaughter, Kayleigh Cline.
