James L. "Jim" Kirk

A memorial service, celebrating the life of James L. Jim Kirk, 73, of Harbor Hills, will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Thursday, February 19 2015, at Jacksontown United Methodist Church with Pastors Bob Beyer and Steve Osborne officiating. Jim died peacefully, Friday evening, February 13, 2015, in Newark, following an extended illness. He was born in Newark on January 3, 1942, the son of the late Guy A. and Mary (Lorentz) Kirk. He was a long time employee of Columbia Gas of Ohio. Jim was an avid golfer, and in retirement worked part time at Harbor Hills Country Club, where he was also a board member for several years, until his health prevented it. He is survived by his loving family: wife Carol, whom he married on March 13, 1963, son Wade Kirk, daughter Teresa (Brad) McCullough, granddaughters Audrey and Alexis, brother John D. Kirk, nephew Garrett; along with his pet bird Chico. His family will receive friends on Thursday from 10:00 a.m. until service time at the church.
