Funeral services, celebrating of the life James David Lampton, 83, of Brookville, Florida and formerly of Thornville, will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Friday, July 16, 2021 in the chapel of the Kirkersville home of HOSKINSON Funeral Home, with Pastors Christopher Henderson-Johns and Matthew Van Winkle as co-celebrants. Burial with full military honors will follow in the Fairmount Cemetery, near Jacksontown, where David will be buried next to the mother of his children Sandra Faith (Wilson), who passed away in 1986.
David passed away July 3, 2021 in Florida, following an extended illness. He was born in Newark, on July 18, 1937 the son of the late Carl Benjamin and Thelma Pearl (West) Lampton. He was a graduate of Glenford H.S., class of 1956, served honorably in the US Army, and worked for 32 years at Rockwell/Meritor/Boeing in Heath, retiring in 1988. He was an active member and Past President of Hancock County Gideon’s International.
Following Sandy’s death in 1986, he married Pastor Geri (Simco) in 1990 and they had recently celebrated their 31 st wedding anniversary.
In addition to his wife, David is survived by his children Leslie David (Pamela) Lampton of Heath, Ashley James (Rhonda) Lampton of Thornville, Beverly Ruth Parr of Buckeye Lake; 13 grandchildren, 4 great-grandchildren; his brother Joe (Rose) Lampton of Zanesville, Indiana and sister Dianne Lampton of Ypsilanti, Michigan; and many nieces and nephews.
In addition to his parents and first wife, he is preceded in death by his twin sisters Mary DeLoach and Marjorie Jourdan and his brother Carl “Sonny” Lampton.
The family will receive friends on Thursday evening, July 15, 2021 from 6:00 until 8:00 p.m. and again on Friday morning from 9:30 a.m. until the time of the funeral service at the funeral home, 285 East Main St. in Kirkersville.
The family prefers that memorial contributions in his memory be directed to HPH Hospice, 12242 Cortez Blvd, Brookville, FL 34613 or the Gideon’s International PO Box 97251, Washington, D.C. 20090-7251.
