James M. Laughrey

James M. Laughrey, age 61, of Newark, passed away on Monday, September 22, 2014 at Riverside Methodist Hospital. Jim was born January 4, 1953 in Newark, Ohio to the late Meredith Paul and Joann Elizabeth (Hall) Laughrey.Jim delivered The Advocate for several years. He coached softball and liked to fish and go camping. He enjoyed watching NASCAR and was an avid fan of the University of Michigan Wolverines and the Cincinnati Reds.He is survived by his wife, Evelyn C. (Darnes) Laughrey, whom he married January 4, 1991; a son, Cory Laughrey of Newark; grandchildren, Hunter James, Kyrie Cash and Phoenix Raine; brother, Tim Laughrey of Pennsylvania; and several nieces and nephews.In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a son, Donald Meredith Laughrey; and a sister, Garnet Bowman.Friends may call from 6-8 p.m. on Friday, September 26, at Criss Wagner Hoskinson Funeral Home, 179 Granville Street, Newark.
