A going home service for James Clyde Posey, Sr., age 87, of Newark, will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Friday, September 3, at Criss Wagner Hoskinson Funeral Home with Pastor Anthony Bartlette officiating. Burial will take place in Fairmount Cemetery where military honors will be observed by the Licking County Veterans Alliance. Friends may call from 2-4 & 6-8 p.m. on Thursday, September 2, at the funeral home, 179 Granville Street in Newark. James was born November 10, 1933 in Erbacon, West Virginia to the late Clyde Wallace Posey and the late Clara Alice (O’Dell) Posey Blake. He passed away on Monday, August 30, 2021 with his daughters by his side. Jim was a veteran of the United States Army and faithfully served his country during the Korean Conflict. He was employed with Rockwell for 30 years. Jim could repair, build, and design anything, having taught himself through reading. He built his first bike at 10 years old. Jim was a loving father who taught his kids the alphabet, how to tie their shoes and how to ride a bike. He was a member of the Church of God of Licking County for many years. He is survived by his daughters, Brenda Posey and Pati Starkey, both of Newark; James (Lisa) Posey, Jr. of Heath and Dennis (Heather) Posey of Newark; eight grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; and brother, Ronnie (Martha) Posey of West Virginia. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his beloved wife of 60 years, Delores (Eskins) Posey, who died in 2016; step-father, Vayden “Jake” Blake; three brothers; and three sisters.
