James H. Rogers, 73, of Buckeye Lake, passed away at Licking Memorial Hospital on January 3, 2019. He was born in Kansas City, Missouri on November 22, 1945 to the late Charles and Edna (Greer) Rogers. James graduated from Chanute High School in Kansas, Class of 1963. He proudly served his country in the United States Navy. Prior to retirement, he was a central office equipment installer for Century Link. He was a member of the Fraternal Order of Eagles #2801 in Buckeye Lake; VFW Post #1388 in Millersport; and Zanesville American Legion Post #29. He enjoyed watching NASCAR, going to the beach and spending time with family and friends. Survivors include his loving wife of nearly 45 years, Dedra “Dee” (Grotegeer) Rogers, whom he married January 18, 1974; daughter, Christina (John) Holt; grandchildren, Jared Franks, Sean Franks and Nick Franks; great grandson, Lucas Franks; sister-in-law, Debbie (Tom) Gard; brothers-in-law, John Grotegeer, Robert Grotegeer and Randy (Vallie) Grotegeer; and numerous nieces, nephews and cousins. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by brother, Gary Rogers; sister, Barbara Rogers; and a special aunt, Velma Beasley, who helped raise James.
