James “Jim” Cleveland Shaffer, 76, of Pataskala, passed away on October 20, 2020 at Mt. Carmel East Hospital. He was born in Arlington, Massachusetts on February 20, 1944 to the late Myron and Mae (Youngquist) Shaffer. Jim graduated from The Ohio State University, where he played basketball from 1961 to 1965. Prior to retirement, he was a financial adviser for nearly 40 years. He was a member of the Columbus Woodworking Association, enjoyed golfing, politics, was an avid reader and especially enjoyed working in his yard. Most important was the time he spent with his family and friends. Survivors include his loving wife of 46 years, Margaret “Peggy” (Proctor) Shaffer, whom he married July 20, 1974; daughters, Rebecca (Craig) Orr and Katherine (Nicholas Knight) Shaffer; grandchildren, Abby Shaffer, Makayla Orr, Lilly Knight and Nathan Orr; brothers, Mike (Jill) Shaffer and Phil (Melissa) Shaffer; and numerous nieces, nephews, cousins and friends. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a brother, Steve Shaffer.
