A memorial gathering, celebrating the life of James Craig Sheward, 33, of Kyle, Texas, formerly of Thornville, will be held from 6:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. on Monday, August 10, 2015, in the chapel of the Thornville home of HOSKINSON Funeral & Cremation Service, 56 S. Main St. in Thornville. Private family inurnment will follow on Tuesday in the Lutheran Reformed Cemetery.James died from injuries he sustained in an automobile accident on June 27, 2015, near Abilene, Texas.He was born December 24, 1981, in Columbus, the sonof Evelyn (Kassos) and David Sheward of Thornville. He was a graduate of Sheridan H.S., class of 2001, attended DeVry University in Columbus and was employed as a broadcast engineer with Lyon Video in Texas. He enjoyed road trips, hiking and was an outstanding artist.In addition to his parents, he is survived by his sisters Deanna and Christina Sheward of Thornville; grandmother Elaine Walter and her husband Byron, aunts Katy Porter and her husband Al, Candace Franco and her husband Richard; nephew Aaron Ambrose and his wife Chiho. His friend James E. Smith and his canine companion Charlie Barker were with him at the time of his death.To honor James, the family prefers that memorial contributions be directed to the Dawes Arboretum where a tree will be planted in his memory.
