J ames Arthur Watson, age 54, of Buckeye Lake, passed away unexpectedly at his home on Thursday, July 22, 2021.
James was born June 9, 1967 in Cleveland, Ohio and remained in Ohio, being raised in Woodsfield. He was a 1985 graduate of Woodsfield High School where he had been class Valedictorian and thereafter attended The Ohio State University in Columbus. He was a member of the Kingdom Hall of Jehovah’s Witnesses in Buckeye Lake. James was baptized as a teenager and spent much of his time researching Bible topics in the continuous pursuit of truth and knowledge for its ability to provide people lasting help. He also had keen interests in science, history and philosophy in its practical application. He learned computer programming in order to create various tools and apps, most often for personal study tools. James had a deep appreciation of classical music and travel, taking his family to countless symphonies and trips through America, Canada and Europe.
James spent his time intentionally and he designed his life in a way that allowed him to be a consistent, positive, core-part of his close family's life. For his nephews in particular, he served as their uncle, a father figure, and close friend. Jimmy (as family calls him) is deeply loved. Genesis 31:49 "Let Jehovah keep watch between me and you when we are situated unseen from one from the other." He is sorely missed but with the hope of seeing him again. Psalm 37:29 "The righteous themselves will possess the Earth and they will reside forever upon it." Also John 11:25.
He is survived by his mother, Ann Louise (Sullivan) Watson of Buckeye Lake; sister, Holly Ann Watson of Newark; nephew, Dylan Tyler Marcinko and his wife, Ashton Brook (Maron) Marcinko and nephew, Andrew James Gildea; great-nephews, Cayden Andrew Robert Marcinko and Elliott James Carmac Marcinko; and an uncle, Arthur Sullivan of Alliance.
James was preceded in death most recently by his father, James H. Watson; and his grandmother, Polly L. Sullivan.
A memorial service for James will be held online using Zoom on Saturday, August 7, at 1:30 pm. Prior to James’ memorial, you may contact 614-668-9873 for instructional assistance.
