James Earl Young

A funeral service celebrating the life of James Earl “Jimmy” Young, age 73, of Newark, will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Tuesday, February 27, at Truth Tabernacle with Pastor Greg Sheets officiating. Burial will take place in Kirkersville Cemetery. Friends may call from 10-11 a.m. prior to the service at the church, 1371 Sportsman Club Road NW in Newark.

Jimmy was born May 31, 1950 in Carrollton, Kentucky to the late Dalton Lee and Marietta (Cook) Young. He passed away on Thursday, February 22, 2024 at the Selma Markowitz Care Center (operated by Hospice of Central Ohio).

Jimmy worked in construction doing building, remodeling, carpentry, and maintenance. He was a member of Truth Tabernacle, which he helped build. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, tinkering, and spending time with his family.

He is survived by his loving wife, Lisa Lynn (Murray) Young, whom he married July 1, 2017; seven children, Dalton Young, James Anthony (Ivy) Young, Jamie (Alicia) Fyffe, Steven (Rachel) Fyffe, Andrew (Bethany) Yerian, Lacy Young, and Kaitlynn Walters; many grandchildren and great-grandchildren; brothers, Dalton Young, Raymond Young, and John Wayne Young; sister-in-law, Martha Jean Young; and many nieces and nephews.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by two brothers, Benjamin and Robert; two sisters, Alice and Elizabeth; daughter-in-law, Lynne Young; and sister-in-law, Sandy Young.
