Janet Ruth Burns

A funeral service celebrating the life of Janet Ruth Burns, age 79, of Pataskala, will be held at 11 a.m. on Saturday, January 30, at Bethel Baptist Church with Pastor Dan Moore officiating. Friends may call from 4-7 p.m. on Friday, January 29, at the church, 7161 Beecher Road SW in Pataskala. Burial will take place at York Street Cemetery.

Janet was born March 20, 1941 in Columbus, Ohio to the late Jack William and Ruth Virginia (Spangler) Purdy. She passed away unexpectedly on January 22, 2021.

Janet was a 1959 graduate of Central High School in Columbus. Prior to her marriage to Jack Lee Burns on March 11, 1961, Janet was employed with the YMCA, Cannon’s Flower Shop and Timken Roller Bearing. Janet was a wonderful wife, mother and grandmother. She enjoyed flower gardening and was proud of the sales records that she achieved selling Tupperware. Janet was a faithful member of Bethel Baptist Church in Pataskala.

She is survived by her loving husband of nearly 60 years, Jack Lee Burns; daughter, Theresa Burns of Pataskala; sons, David Lee (Darla) Burns of Massillon and Jason (Dianna) Burns of Granville; grandchildren, Kyle D. Burns, Holly M. Burns, Kent G. Burns, Carson M. Burns, Jacklyn (Mark) Keene, Jessica (Danny) Frum, Christopher Olson and Joshua Burns; great-grandchildren, Paisley and Kinsley Burns, Bryce and Connor Keene, and one on the way; brothers, Charles J. (Linda) Purdy of Delaware and Jeffrey E. Purdy (Jody Penfound) of Gahanna; and several nieces and nephews.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by two brothers, William Purdy and Jack Purdy.
