A funeral service celebrating the life of Janet Ellen Mayhew, age 76, of Newark, will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Friday, April 4, at Criss Wagner Hoskinson Funeral Home with Pastor John Sellers officiating. Burial will take place in Newark Memorial Gardens.Janet was born February 15, 1938 in Newark, Ohio to the late Gale C. and Odessa R. (Gornall) Piper. She passed away on Sunday, March 30, 2014 at Riverside Methodist Hospital. A 1960 graduate of Ohio University, Janet received a Bachelor of Science degree in Education. She taught business education at Licking Valley High School in the late 70s and early 80s. She retired from David B. Wills and Associates where she had been employed for over 20 years. Janet was very active in Sweet Adelines for many years and was very devoted to her grandchildren. She is survived by her husband of 54 years, Richard E. Mayhew, whom she married June 28, 1959; three children, Tracy L. Miller of Heath, Jon M. (Colleen M.) Mayhew of Granite Bay, CA and Beth E. (John) Sellers of Crooksville; grandchildren, Nathan W. Miller of Columbus, Angela N. Miller of Millersport, Austin J. Miller of Heath, Michaela C. Mayhew, Kymerie E. Mayhew, Skylar M. Mayhew, Ean M. Mayhew and Rhys N. Mayhew, all of Granite Bay, CA, John I. Sellers, Matthew R. Sellers and Kaitlyn E. Sellers,all of Crooksville; great-grandson, Bransen Miller of Millersport; sister, Mary Lou (James W.) Scott of Newark; brother-in-law, Ronald W. (Judy) Mayhew of Hereford, AZ; sister-in-law, Janice E. Wise of Newark; several nieces and nephews; and special friend, Frank Muckensturm of Bremen.
