Janet F. Pitts

A funeral service celebrating the life of Janet F. Pitts, 77, of Newark, will be held on Thursday, August 17, 2023 at 8:00 p.m. at Criss Wagner Hoskinson Funeral and Cremation Service, with Pastor Cory Campbell officiating. Burial will be held at a later date at Arlington National Cemetery where she will be buried next to her husband, William. Visitation will be held at the funeral home, 179 Granville Street, Newark, on Thursday, two hours prior to the funeral service, from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. Janet was born in Elmhurst, IL on May 27, 1946 to the late Robert and Fern (Miller) Hageman. She passed away on August 11, 2023 at the Selma Markowitz Care Center, operated by Hospice of Central Ohio. Janet was a devoted homemaker to her family. She was a member of the Spinners Guild and the Knitters Club. She enjoyed crafting, reading, scrap booking, sewing, cooking, gardening, but most importantly, the time she spent with her family and friends. Janet also enjoyed genealogy and was known as the “family historian.” Survivors include her daughters, Andrea (John) Hoskins, Holly (Kevin) Wheeler, Nancy (Mike) Lynch and J.J. (Andy) Keeler; son, William (Myra) Pitts, Jr.; sister, Holly (Doug) Waites; brother, Robert Hageman; grandchildren, Jack, Will (Nate), Tori (Nick), Margaret, Harry, Jake, Logan and Brittany; great grandson, Teddy; and numerous nieces, nephews, cousins and friends. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, William Pitts; and a son, Robert Pitts. Memorial contributions may be made in memory of Janet to Hospice of Central Ohio.
