Jay Grimes

Jay Grimes, age 82, of Etna, passed away Tuesday, May 14, 2024, at Mt. Carmel East.  He was born August 2, 1941, in Hopewell Township, Muskingum County, Ohio to the late Jay and Lena (Sickle) Grimes.

Jay was a 1959 graduate of Hopewell High School in Muskingum County and went on to Spring Arbor College in Michigan.  Jay graduated from Park College of Columbus with a degree in counseling.

Jay retired from DLA of Columbus after 33 years of service where he had worked in Security.

He is survived by his loving wife of 51 years, Sharon K. (Murphy) Grimes, whom he married on September 1, 1972; children, Eric (Amber) Grimes, Thom (Stef) Morris, Lori (Mike) Canales, Melissa (Jason) Britton, and Anita (Mike) Ellison; 17 grandchildren and numerous great grandchildren; brother, Dale (Karen) Grimes; sisters, Myrna (Wayne) Sidle, Marie (Jerry) Littlejohn, and Rita Carpenter; numerous nieces and nephews.

In addition to his parents, Jay was preceded in death by his brother-in-law, Roy Carpenter.

A memorial service celebrating Jay’s life will be held at 11 AM, Friday June 14, 2024 at Mt. Zion Church 4810 Blacklick-Eastern Rd, Baltimore, Ohio 43105.
