A funeral service celebrating the life of Jean B. Tommy Farmer, age 98, of Newark, formerly of Buckeye Lake, will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Tuesday, November 11, at First Community Church, 4381 Walnut Road SE, Buckeye Lake, with Pastor Kevin Blade officiating. Burial will take place in Barnes Cemetery, Wilkins Corners.Tommy was born June 26, 1916 in Mount Vernon, Ohio to the late Cary F. Farmer and Myrtle E. (Lee) Farmer Duncan. She passed away on Saturday, November 7, 2014 at Flint Ridge Nursing and Rehab. Center under the care of Generation Hospice.Tommy retired in July of 1970 with twenty-five years of service as a laboratory tester at the former Pure Oil Refinery in Heath. She had also been employed in data services at the Newark Air Force Station, retiring in 1984 following 13 years of service. Tommy was a 59 year member of the First Community Church in Buckeye Lake where she spent countless hours volunteering and supporting church functions and programs. She was also a dedicated volunteer for many years at the American Red Cross and Buckeye Lake L.E.A.D.S., where she was recognized as Volunteer of the Year in 2005, and was a member for many years of the Buckeye Lake Youth Association.She is survived by dear friend Marge Schulze of Buckeye Lake; and several nieces, nephews, great-nieces and great-nephews.She was the last of her immediate family of four brothers and three sisters.Friends may call from 2-4 & 6-8 p.m. on Monday, November 10, at the Kirkersville home of Hoskinson Funeral & Cremation Service, 285 East Main Street, Kirkersville.Memorial contributions may be made to the First Community Church in Buckeye Lake.Hoskinson Funeral Home is honored to care for the Farmer family.
