Jean Evelyn Kirk

A graveside service celebrating the life of Jean Evelyn Kirk, age 94, of Newark, will be held at 9:30 a.m. on Monday, August 20, at Frazeysburg Cemetery with Pastor Andrew Dennis officiating.

Jean was born September 23, 1923 in Newark, Ohio to the late Clarence A. and Louise M. (Keuhl) Baird. She passed away on Monday, August 13, 2018 at the Newark Care and Rehabilitation Center.

Jean was a 1942 graduate of Newark High School. She retired from J.C. Penney and had also been employed with the Newark Stove Company. A lifetime member of the Maple Avenue Christian Union Church, Jean taught Sunday School for 50 years. She was a former volunteer with the American Red Cross Blood Drive and enjoyed reading.

She is survived by three children, James Kirk, Kenneth (Donetta) Kirk and Susan (Perry) Jones, all of Newark; grandson, Chad (Katie) Jones of Newark; great-grandchildren, Caden Jones and Avery Jones, both of Newark.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by a brother, William Baird.

Memorial contributions may be made to the Maple Avenue Christian Union Church.
