Jean L. Thorson Sauer, age 80, of Thornville, passed away on February 26, 2016 at the Selma Markowitz Hospice Care Center in Newark. Jean was born May 16, 1935 in Cincinnati, Ohio to the late Richard Joseph and Kathryn Evelyn (Schumacher) Hines.Jeanretired from Rickenbacker Air Force Base where she had worked in accounting. Jean was a member of Our Lady of Mount Carmel Catholic Church in Buckeye Lake. She enjoyed playing Euchre, bowling, knitting, needlepoint, puzzles and reading. She also enjoyed writing childrens books, songs and poems and was the writer and publisher of the newsletter for the VFW in McConnelsville. An avid outdoor enthusiast, Jean was a true rockhound and loved to travel with her husband in their RV, especially to Florida. She was a scuba diver and enjoyed teaching others how to dive.She is survived by her husband of 32 years, Lee Sauer; daughter, Janet (Tony) Grosso of Denton, North Carolina; son, David L. (Bonnie) Sauer of Lancaster; seven grandchildren, Cathy Bundy, Jason Sauer, Anthony Grosso and Jacob, Amanda, Dustin and Kyle Kish; great-grandchildren, Emmajean Bundy, Talan Sauer and several other great-grandchildren; sister, Jill Hines of Tampa, FL; brother, Jack Hines of Obetz; daughter-in-law, Jeannie Ratliff of Columbus; and nieces and nephews.In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by a son, Doug Thorson; and a brother, Jerry Hines.Private inurnment will take place in St. Joseph Cemetery, Lockbourne, Ohio.Hoskinson Funeral & Cremation Service in Thornville is honored to care for Jean and her family.
