Burial will follow in New Reading Cemetery. Visitation will be held at Lighthouse Memorial Church, 2600 Walnut Road (route 79), Millersport, on Thursday, from 5:00 to 8:00 p.m. and on Friday, from 11:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. Jeanie was born in Zanesville, Ohio on Sunday, September 12, 1965 to the late Fredrick Leon Harter and Judith Ann (Wiechert) Wilson, who survives. She went to her heavenly home on Sunday, January 24, 2021 at Genesis Hospital in Zanesville, while surrounded by her loving family. Jeanie was a 1983 graduate of Sheridan High School in Thornville, Ohio. She began her career as a preschool teacher, then continued her work with KinderCare as a teacher and rose to an administrative position. Jeanie was a warrior. She met many obstacles that would have slowed others down. She became a paraplegic after a life-saving surgery in 1996, when a tumor tried denying her a normal life. With her determination and the unconditional love from her family, she overcame and never accepted defeat. It took years to adjust and learn how to “live” again. Years later, she found herself back in early childhood education where she opened up and directed, Kids Choice, where she was affectionately known as “Miss Jeanie.” She filled hearts and directed many children to positive paths. As an administrator, she never forgot her humble beginnings. She continued to personally support the families and their children. Jeanie was a miracle and a hero to many. She was an avid sports supporter, and her cow bell will live on. Jeanie was a member of Lighthouse Memorial Church and was a member of the Thornville United Methodist Church as a youth. She enjoyed crafting, photography, making collages and scrapbooking. Most important in her life was her loving family. She was a dedicated wife, mother, grandmother, daughter, sister, and friend and will be missed by everyone that knew her. Survivors include her loving husband of 31 years, Terry E. Kuhn, whom she married July 1, 1989; children, Jerrod (Nicole) Harter, Ashley (Josh Waits) Kuhn and Aaron Kuhn; grandchildren, Kendall Harter, Emma Harter, Gavin Moss, Trinity Waits, Hannah Waits, Joscelynn Waits, Addison Waits and Braxton Waits; parents, Judy and Bill Wilson; grandmother, Betty Wiechert; brothers, John (Carolyn) Harter, Ed (Laura) Peck, Dan (Jennifer) Harter, Fred (Tracy) Harter and James Graf; sisters, Julie (Lonnie) White, Jody (Matthew) Stevens, Lola (Jack) Nichols, Katherine (Sam) Kirk, Angela (Patrick) Newman, and Joyce (Jeff) Hoskinson; sisters-in-law, Patty (Clayton) Poston, Candy (Larry) Wright and Barb (John) Davis; and many nieces, nephews, cousins and friends. She is preceded in death by her precious five preborn Harter grandchildren; brothers, Randall Harter and Mathias Kevin Harter; baby brother, Jeffery Harter; sisters, Deana Harter Kirkbride and LeeAnn Graf; nephews, James Hupp and Jack Stevens; father-in-law and mother-in-law, Melvin Eugene and Bertha Elizabeth (Bullock) Kuhn; brothers-in-law, John Davis and Clayton Poston; grandparents, Clarence and Melva (Wilson) Harter and Rudolph Alonso Wiechert, Sr.; great grandparents, Henry and Carrie (Price) Wiechert and Brice and Emma Grace (Cochran) Settles.
