Jefferson M. Rodgers

A memorial service celebrating the life of Jefferson M. Jeff Rodgers, age 53, of Newark, will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Saturday, September 13, at Waters Edge Assembly of God Church, 2249 Cherry Valley Road, Newark.Jeff was born December 3, 1960 in Newark, Ohio to the late William and Wanda (Alexander) Rodgers. He passed away on Tuesday, September 2, 2014 at the Selma Markowitz Care Center (operated by Hospice of Central Ohio).Jeff had been a truck driver with Republic Trucking and was a member of the Teamsters Union. He enjoyed bowling and playing cards and was an avid fan of the OSU Buckeyes and the Pittsburgh Steelers.He is survived by his wife of 36 years, Rose M. (Chalfant) Rodgers, whom he married April 29, 1978; three children, Melissa (Paul) Keaser, Jeffrey Rodgers and Robert Rodgers, all of Newark; grandchildren, Caleb, Shawn and Addy Keaser, Corey, Carlie, Carma, Chloe, Hayden and Brodie Rodgers; sisters, Mary (Ray) Garvin of Florida and Gloria (Paul) Morrison and Ginger (Dave) Alexander, all of Newark; brother, Raymond (Pam) Rodgers of Newark; mother-in-law and father-in-law, Robert and June Chalfant of Newark; brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law, Tony Chalfant, Pam (Dean) Dials and Lisa (Kevin) Jones, all of Newark; special nephew, James (Sharon) Rodgers of Mount Vernon; and many other nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles and cousins.In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by three brothers, Jerry, James and Bill Rodgers.Memorial contributions may be made to the Foundation for Hospice of Central Ohio, PO Box 430, Newark, OH 43058.Criss Wagner Hoskinson is honored to care for the Rodgers family.
