Jerold E. "Jerry" West

A funeral service celebrating the life of Jerold E. Jerry West, age 78, of Newark, will be held at 1:30 p.m. on Wednesday, June 11, at Criss Wagner Hoskinson Funeral Home with Pastor Eric Miller officiating. Burial will take place in Newark Memorial Gardens. Jerry was born May 7, 1936 in Newark, Ohio. He passed away on June 7, 2014 at his home. Jerry was a graduate of Newark High School and served for several years in the Ohio National Guard. He retired after over 30 years of service from Owens Corning Fiberglas. He was an active member and employed with GMP Local #244. He was also a member of the AFL-CIO. Jerry enjoyed volunteering with motorcycle benefits and bike runs. He is survived by two daughters, Tina (Gary) Smith of Newark and Roxie Dixon of Newark; several grandchildren; special family pets, Maybelle and Tootsie; and many friends at the GMP Hall. Jerry was preceded in death by his parents, Alvy L.and Irene V. (Glaunsinger)West; his wife, Martha R. (Moran) West, on January 23, 1999; and by a son, Claude Jay Moore. Friends may call from 5-8 p.m. on Tuesday, June 10, at the funeral home, 179 Granville Street, Newark. Memorial contributions may be made to the American Cancer Society.
