Jerry Helser

Jerry L. Helser, age 80, of Harbor Hills, Hebron, died Thursday, March 2, 2017 at Memorial University Medical Center in Savannah, GA. He was born in Jacksontown, Ohio on Nov. 23, 1936 to the late Homer and Ruth Evelyn (Boring) Helser.Jerry graduated from Jacksontown High School, Class of 1954 and from Otterbein University in 1960 with a Bachelors Degree. Prior to retirement, he worked as a chemical engineer with Owens-Corning Fiberglas, where he held 13 patents. After retirement at Owens-Corning, Jerry became an expert legal consultant, traveling the world as an expert witness to Asbestos products.He was a member of the Hebron Masonic Lodge #116 and Aladdin Shriners in Columbus. He was an avid golfer, especially at Harbor Hills Golf Club and enjoyed his winter condo in Hilton Head, SC. Jerry was a member of the Jacksontown Alumni Association, where he served as past president. He had a great sense of humor and loved spending time with his family and friends.Survivors include his son and daughter-in-law, William Douglas and Lou Ann Helser of Worthington; daughter and son-in-law, Dianna Lynn and Jeffrey Powers of Yardley, PA; brother-in-law, Jeffrey and Barbara Lamp; and grandchildren, Nicholas William Helser, Holly Elizabeth Helser, Madelaine Anne Penney and Andrew Herne Penney.In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by his wife, Louise A. (Lamp) Helser in 1995.Friends may call at the Kirkersville Chapel of HOSKINSON FUNERAL AND CREMATION SERVICE, 285 E. Main Street, Kirkersville, on Wednesday, March 8, 2017 from 2:00 to 4:00 and 6:00 to 8:00 p.m., where a Masonic Service will be held at 7:45 p.m. Funeral services will be held on Thursday, March 9, 2017 at 1O:00 a.m. at the funeral home, with Pastor Brian Harkness officiating.
