Jerry Lee Neighbarger, 77, of Somerset, formerly of Buckeye Lake, died on Sunday, April 30, 2017, in Zanesville. He was born July 14, 1939, in Coshocton, the son of the late Carl and Juanita (Adams) Neighbarger. A self-described musician, he enjoyed playing keyboards and singing locally with his band Just Us. He was also a very good baseball player, playing for the Columbus Jets and for one game, pitching for the Pittsburgh Pirates, before an arm injury cost him his career. He also enjoyed sulky racing and working with the youth of Buckeye Lake as the founder of Jerrys Kids a softball team. He attended the Druids and American Legion in Newark, VFW at Buckeye Lake and Buckeye Lake Eagles. He is survived by his children: son Tracy Neighbarger of Somerset; daughters Jeri (Kenny) Baker of Newark, Shelly (Doug) Back of Buckeye Lake; daughter-in-law Karen (Mrs. Wayne) Maness; his brother Randy (Denny) Neighbarger of North Carolina; grandchildren Sherry Rice, Scott Neighbarger, Ashlynn Baker, Christine Caplinger, Kristina and Kaylyn Maness, Ronni Kell and Tyler Back; great grandchildren Madison Eckard, Justice Burchard, Mason Kline, Angela Burchard, Isabella Rice, Logan Johns, Dayanna Pettigrew and Braelyn Neighbarger. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his grandmother Carol Adams, wife Diana Sue Neighbarger and son Wayne Maness. Friends may call at the Criss Wagner Hoskinson Funeral Home, 179 Granville Street in Newark, on Wednesday. May 3, 2017, from 2-4 and 6-8 p.m.; where funeral services will be held on Thursday, May 4, 2017, at 11:00 a.m. with Pastor Brian Harkness as celebrant.
