Jerry Curtis Nelson

Jerry Curtis Nelson, age 68, of Newark, a 16-year resident of the Laurels of Heath, passed away on Friday, December 11, 2020. Jerry was born August 18, 1952 in Simpson, West Virginia to the late Emil Eugene and Dorothy G. (Martin) Nelson.

Jerry was a graduate of Newark High School. He was formerly employed with Williams Upholstery in Newark and Martin Seed Company in Hebron. Prior to residing at The Laurels, Jerry was always on the go and enjoyed attending every car show in the area, Newark High School basketball and football games, Sertoma events, and camping with his mother. He was a gentle soul who was very generous. Jerry loved Christmas and was known to buy a present for every single member of the family, not just his immediate family but extending to nieces, nephews and cousins.

He is survived by four brothers, Ron (Mary), Tim (Lisa), Dan (Cheryl) and Roger; uncle and aunt, George and Dora Jean Boichan; and many nieces, nephews and cousins.

The family will receive friends from 9:30-10:30 a.m. on Friday, December 18, at Criss Wagner Hoskinson Funeral Home, 179 Granville Street in Newark. Due to Covid-19 concerns, masks must be worn inside the funeral home and please practice social distancing.

The immediate family will observe a private memorial service at 10:30 a.m. with Jerry’s sister-in-law, Pastor Lisa Nelson officiating. Jerry will then be laid to rest with his parents at Newark Memorial Gardens.
