She passed away on Monday, September 22, 2014 at her home.Joann was a proud graduate of the Newark High School class of 1952. She was a crafty lady in countless ways. Many were the recipients of her talents, which included tying bows, making flower arrangements and wreaths, baking pies and, of course, her heavenly fudge. She never met a stranger and never shied away from a conversation. Her strongest gift was her love for her family.Joann retired from the Newark Air Force Base and was also formerly employed with Michaels, Central Trust and the License Bureau. She was a past member of the Second Baptist Church of Newark and, most recently, supported the Millersport Covenant Church with her sewing, baking and gardening talents. She is survived by a daughter, Susan (John) Howell of Baytown, TX; two sons, David (Susan) Price of Xenia and Doug (Shirley) Price of Heath; the joys of her life, her eight grandchildren and two great-grandchildren, Brian, Leslie, Katie, Amy, Allison, Lauren, Wesley, Aaron, Grace and Sylas; sisters, Jane (Don) Bolen, Jean (Don) Dyar and Mary (Lewie) McIntosh, all of Newark; and nieces and nephews. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Don, and brothers, Eddie and Gary Brooks. The Price and Howell families would like to thank all of our friends and family members that supported Joann in so many ways over the last few years, especially dear friends, Bit Predmore and Donna Hunt. Gratitude goes out to Doctors Aruna Gowda, Hong Zhang and David Howell, and their wonderful, caring staffs. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests a modest donation to Millersport Covenant Church, Second Baptist Church or a charity of your choice.Criss Wagner Hoskinson Funeral Home is honored to care for the Price family.
