John Wesley Boyer

John Wesley Boyer, age 85, of Newark, passed away on Sunday, April 30, 2023 at Morrison House Hospice in Zanesville. John was born December 22, 1937 in Frazeysburg, Ohio to the late Floyd Delta Boyer and the late Bricie Dale (Sponaugle) Boyer.

John was a veteran of the United States Army and served in the Ohio National Guard for four years. He was formerly employed by the Roper Corp. and worked for several companies while living in Texas. John enjoyed hunting, fishing, and gardening.

He is survived by four children, Becky Boyer Wilburn (Len Brown), Danny (Kristen) Boyer, and Ben Boyer, all of Gilmer Texas, and Sarah (Jerry) Bell of Longview Texas; grandchildren, Matt Boyer, Megan Boyer, and Mary Wilburn; and several great-grandchildren; a sister and brother-in-law, Julia and William Ricket of Newark; and many nieces and nephews.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Mary (Burchard) Boyer in 2020; a son, Matthew Boyer; three brothers, James Robert Boyer, Stanley Quentin Boyer, and Thomas Leslie Boyer; and also an infant sister.

A private interment will be held in Maple Grove Cemetery, Granville, with military honors provided by the Licking County Veterans Alliance.
