John N. Gill, cherished father, grandfather, brother, and uncle, passed away Wednesday, September 28, 2022 surrounded by his loving family. Born June 20, 1934 in Millersport, Ohio, he was the eldest son and second child of Edward and Lucy (Crist) Gill. At a young age, he moved with his family to a farm near Moxahala, Ohio. There he learned to work and love that land. His family would ultimately grow to include eleven children. John remained on the farm after the passing of his parents. He would often say, "I've seen a lot of this country, but no place as pretty as Perry County." A 1953 graduate of Moxahala High School, John then proudly served his country in the United States Army. In addition to his lifetime of farming, he worked as a millwright for thirty years at Rockwell International in Heath, Ohio. John was a member of the Masonic Lodge #584 in Corning, Ohio, and former member of Elks Lodge #0509 and the Fraternal Order of Eagles #2070, both in New Lexington, Ohio. John was a kind, generous man who lived his life for his family and showered them with love. His passing leaves a void that will never be filled, but his legacy will live on forever. He is survived by his daughters Sheri and Jona Gill, his son-in-law Randy Hermann, his grandchildren Ava and Nicholas Hermann, siblings Sally Hall, Mary Holter, Charles (Joan) Gill, Patricia (William) Wilson, Steven (Pam) Gill, and many nieces, nephews, and friends. John was preceded in death by his parents Edward and Lucy Gill, brothers William, Benny, and James Gill, sisters Jacqueline Holbrook and Karen Wilson, brothers-in-law Keith Wilson and Larry Holter, and friend and companion Mary Lou Galusky. The family will receive friends on Monday, October 3, 2022 from 6 until 8 PM with Masonic Services to be held at 7:30 pm. The funeral will follow on Tuesday, October 4, 2022 at 1 :00 p.m. Burial with Full military honors by the Licking Co. Veterans Alliance will follow in the Kirkersville Cemetery.
