John David Holtsberry

John David Holtsberry, 78, of Hebron, passed away suddenly on August 23, 2023, at his home. He was born December 21, 1944 in Newark, the son of the late Lawrence and Lulu(Turner) Holtsberry. He was a graduate of Lakewood H.S., class of 1962, Bowling Green State University 1969, with a degree in Education. He taught school and coached Volleyball and Football at Lakewood H.S. in Hebron until his retirement. He served honorably in the US Army during the Vietnam conflict and saw active duty in Vietnam. He was an active member of the Central Ohio Volleyball club, where he coached and officiated Volleyball matches around the area. He is survived by his nephew Paul (Roberta) Kneller, his nieces Cindy Kneller (Mrs. Mark) and Wendy (Jim) Ashton, great nieces and nephews Ashley, Karley, Kyle, Jason, Jesse and Jay. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his sister Sue Kneller and his nephew Mark Kneller. Honoring his wishes, he will be cremated and his cremated remains inurned with his parents in the Kirkersville Cemetery. Memorial contributions in his memory may be directed to the Lakewood Athletic Boosters or the Licking Co. Humane Society.
