A Funeral Mass for John James Bell, Jr., age 91 of Newark, will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Monday, October 13,at St. Francis de Sales Catholic Church, 66 Granville Street, Newark, with Rev. JCP Sullivan, Parish Priest, as celebrant. Burial will take place in St. Joseph Cemetery. Military honors will be provided by the Licking County Veterans Alliance.Mr. Bell passed away on Friday, October 10, 2014 at Generation Hospice at the Flint Ridge Nursing Center. He was born on July 14, 1923 in Jeannette, Pennsylvania to the late John and Caroline (Henry) Bell.Mr. Bell served in the United States Navy during World War II in the European and Pacific Theaters. He worked at McKee Glass Company in Jeannette, PA, and retired from Stuck Mould Works, Lancaster. He also worked as a mold-maker at Holophane. He was a devoted husband, father, grandfather and great-grandfather. He will be remembered as a Christian and hard-working family man and a member of St. Francis de Sales Catholic Church in Newark. He enjoyed sports and was a Steelers, Pirates and Fighting Irish fan.He is survived by his loving wife of 67 years, Kathleen (Shanley) Bell; children, John (Riki) Bell of Bayou Vista, Texas, David (Kathy) Bell of Westerville, Maureen (Rob) Erney of Columbus, Jerome (Irma) Bell of Findlay, Timothy (Suzy) Bell of Frisco, Texas, Daniel (Robin) Bell of Newark, Christopher (Laura) Bell of Columbus and Joseph (Peggy) Bell of New Albany; 29 grandchildren; 30 great-grandchildren; sisters, Ursula Sollecchio and Regina Sarsfield, all of Jeannette, PA; and many nieces and nephews.In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by four sisters, Mary Lou Marcum, Delores McCormick, Angela Ubinger and Eleanor Kiggins.Friends may call from 2-5 p.m. on Sunday, October 12, at Criss Wagner Hoskinson Funeral Home, 179 Granville Street, Newark, where a Vigil Service will be held at 5 p.m.In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Generation Hospice, 26 N.
