John Edward Spears joined his wife Tammy in the Kingdom of Heaven on July 12, 2021 at the age of 67. As a member of a large family, John took it upon himself to document countless memories through his photography; he was never far from his camera. John was a faithful member of the Church of God for 30 years. Through the church he was born again and met the woman he would marry. His family and faith were the most important things to John. Along with his photography John had many other hobbies that he maintained throughout his life such as coin and stamp collecting. Through the years John worked at Schuler Engineering, Newark Yellow cab as a driver and dispatcher, Longaberger as a weaver, and Domino’s Pizza as a delivery driver and manager. He was known as a hard worker and a leader, and was well loved by his colleagues. John will be remembered as a kind and gentle soul and a faithful servant of God. He was the kind of person who would do anything he could to help his family and friends. He touched many lives during his time on earth and helped lift others up by sharing his interests and his love of God. John is preceded in death by his wife Tammy, mother Sue (Bob) Shaw, father David ‘Sonny’ (Nancy) Spears, sister Samantha Nethers, and brother Jeff Shaw. He is survived by his son Gabe Spears, stepdaughter Ginger Tigner, grandchildren Austin and Abigail Tigner; his brothers Paul Spears, Bobby Shaw, Bernard Rutherford, Joe Schotta, and David Spears Jr; and his sisters Louise (Jim) Crace, Linda Spears, Karen Spears, Sharon Banks, Lisa (Kurt) Kopp, and Tina (John) Mortimer. Family and friends may call from 4pm-7pm, on Monday, July 19th, at the Church of God, God’s Acres on Cedar Street, where the funeral service will be held on Tuesday, at 10am, with Brother Steve Strelecky officiating. Burial will follow in Cedar Hill Cemetery in Newark, beside his wife Tammy.
