John W. Mills

A funeral service celebrating the life of John W. Mills, age 63, of Thornville, will be held on Friday, December 30, 2016 at 12:00 p.m. at Criss Wagner Hoskinson Funeral Home, with Pastor Nate Humphrey officiating. Interment will follow at Fairmount Cemetery. Visitation will be held one hour prior to the funeral service on Friday, from 11:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m.John passed away at Licking Memorial Hospital on Monday, Dec. 26, 2016 while surrounded by his loving family. He was born in Columbus, Ohio on May 5, 1953 to William Mills, Sr. and the late Rosemary (Blevins) Mills. John graduated from Utica High School, Class of 1971. He was a construction worker for most of his life and just plain enjoyed working. He loved helping people and arranging surprise birthday parties for his family. He enjoyed all activities the outdoors provided. He loved the peacefulness of the woods and in spending time with his loving family fishing, boating, camping, and motorcycle rides.In addition to his father, John is survived by his loving wife of 42 years, Paula (Anderson) Mills, whom he married August 24, 1974; his loving children, Shawn Mills and Stacy (Todd) McNash; granddaughter, Breanna; sisters, Mary Mills, Bobbie Fowler, Nancy Place, Patricia Mills, Susan West; brother, Thomas Mills; his many nieces and nephews; and the rest of his family and friends.In addition to his mother, John is preceded in death by his brother William Mills, Jr.John's family wishes to thank the hospital staff and chaplains who compassionately cared for him and Pastor Nate Humphrey who offered such comfort during this time.Visit www.CrissWagnerHoskinson.com to share a special memory about John or to sign an online guest book.Criss Wagner Hoskinson Funeral and Cremation Service is honored to care for John and the Mills family.
