John W. Pettigrew

A memorial service celebrating the life of John W. Pettigrew, age 78, of Pataskala, will be held at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday, December 5, at the Kirkersville home of Hoskinson Funeral & Cremation Service with Clifford Mason as Celebrant. Private inurnment will take place in Kirkersville Cemetery. John was born January 8, 1939 in Wayland, Massachusetts to the late Louis and Elizabeth (Ashley) Pettigrew. He passed away on Saturday, December 2, 2017 at Tuscany Gardens in Pataskala. John was a veteran of the United States Air Force and served for four years from 1956-60. He retired from the Wayland Highway Department where he had been a Master Mechanic. He had also been employed locally with Southwest Licking Schools as a Custodian. John loved casinos, NASCAR and sports of any kind but was especially a fan of the Columbus Blue Jackets and the Boston Bruins. He also enjoyed fishing, boating and gardening. He is survived by three children, Lewis Pettigrew of Pataskala, Bonnielou Pettigrew (Daniel R. Warren) of Columbus and Melissalea (Ray) Disbennett of Heath; a granddaughter, Amanda Brooks (Christopher Moya) of Heath; and two great-granddaughters, Rain and Luna Moya. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Bonnie Pettigrew, on September 27, 2011; a brother, Wilbur; and two sisters, Clara and Betty.
